William Huffaker - Participant

William “Bill” Huffaker joined SC Johnson in June 2017 as the Vice President of Inclusion & Diversity, and Talent. In this newly created role reporting directly to Kim Hauer, Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, Bill has broad responsibility for the company’s talent strategy and initiatives that drive Strategy 2021. His remit includes recruiting, onboarding, succession planning, performance management, employee opinion surveys, management and leadership development, functional learning, and inclusion and diversity. Most recently, he is working on bringing recruiting in-house from an out-sourced model to build SC Johnson’s ability to attract and hire top talent. Bill is also centralizing the learning teams across the company to drive efficiencies, scale, and alignment with business needs and culture change efforts.

Previously, Bill was with General Motors in Detroit, Michigan where he was the head of Global Talent Acquisition. In this role, he led a staff of 250 professionals with a $45 million budget to hire approximately 12,000 employees around the world. He joined GM as head of Global Talent Management. In this role, he served the board and the Executive Leadership Team to assess and build the talent pipeline for the top 300 senior executive roles.

Bill has held senior Talent positions at a variety of companies. He was a Talent Leader at Google’s world headquarters in Mountain View, California. He was also a Director, Talent and Organizational Capability, Professional Career Development, at Microsoft in Redmond, Washington as well as the Head of Talent Planning at Visa in San Francisco.

He regularly volunteers at local LGBT community centers. Most recently, he created the first leadership development program for LGBT leaders.

Bill holds a Ph.D. and Master’s in Human and Organizational Systems and a Master’s in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. He and his spouse, Darin Severns, live in Racine, Wisconsin with their two dogs, Oliver and Audrey.
