A.J. Bhadelia - Participant

A.J. Bhadelia is currently a Manager for Google's Public Policy and Government Affairs team in Washington D.C. In this role, he helps manage the company's relationships on Capitol Hill and provides key policy advice around both economic and technology policy issues. He was previously a presidential political appointee under President Obama serving as Special Advisor and Deputy Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of Treasury. In these roles, A.J. served as one of the primary liaisons on matters relating to tax, budget, and economic policy.

A.J. also previously served as a Senior Advisor to U.S. Congressman Mike Honda (CA-17, Silicon Valley). In that role, he served as Representative Honda’s lead legislative liaison coordinating with key congressional, federal agency and non-profit/private stakeholders on work relating to the CJS and LHHS Appropriations subcommittees; health care; judiciary; civil rights; law; telecommunications with a focus on net neutrality & cybersecurity; and foreign affairs. In addition to his legislative duties, A.J acted as the primary liaison for the Democratic Caucus New Media Working Group, a leadership led effort to improve messaging for all Democratic House Members through the use of new technologies.

A.J. has previously done field work abroad in half a dozen countries, focusing on security and broadband access issues. Throughout his time at organizations such as the Atlantic Council, World Hunger Year and Physicians for Human Rights, A.J. has focused on the intersection of technology and policy; combining diverse technical skills with a deep policy focus.
