Shane Green - Participant
Shane Green is co-founder and CEO of Personal (www.personal.com), a mobile and web data vault and private network for individuals to manage their most important data and documents, including through secure 2-way connections with apps, sites, connected devices, companies and other people. Called a “life management platform” by The Economist, Personal is the first consumer-facing company to be designated an Organizational Ambassador for Privacy by Design. Personal also works with partners ranging from Fortune 500 companies to startups to help them empower their customers with data.
Previously, Shane co-founded and led The Map Network, which built the first platform for places and events to create, own and distribute digital maps and location data. The Map Network was acquired in 2006 by NAVTEQ, where Shane led the newly formed Locations Division. He continued in that role after Nokia acquired NAVTEQ in 2008 until leaving to start Personal in 2009.
Shane is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, serves as Vice Chair of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Data, and serves on the boards of the Information Technology & Innovation Foundation and the Institute for Education, where he co-founded the Media & Technology Roundtable.
A prior startup received the Software Innovation of the Year Award from The Wall Street Journal, and he helped launch the International Crisis Group while at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. Shane holds a B.A. degree in political science and history from the University of Michigan.
