Cyrus Hodes - Participant

Cyrus Hodes is a venture partner at FoundersX Ventures, a Silicon Valley based VC firm focusing on early and growth stage AI and robotics startups.

He his Co-founder and Chair of the AI Initiative at The Future Society—a 501(c)3 incubated at Harvard Kennedy School—where he engages a wide range of global stakeholders to study, discuss and shape the governance of AI.

Hodes co-leads the Global Data Commons project together with the UN Secretary General Executive Office and over 100 global institutions (international organizations, governments, municipalities, private sector and academia). He has also served as the advisor to the UAE Minister of Artificial Intelligence at the Prime Minister’s Office, working on projects that will positively impact the world through the use of AI and help further global governance of AI solutions.

Hodes has led the Global Governance of AI Forum at the World Government Summit in Dubai for the past 2 years. He is a member of the OECD Expert Group on AI (AIGO), the Council on Extended Intelligence (MIT-IEEE), 3 committees of the IEEE Ethically Aligned Design since 2016, and he is a member of the steering committee of AI Commons. Hodes serves as advisor on AI Ethics at Smart Dubai, advisor to Shanghai AI Innovation and Development Pilot Zone, and senior advisor to the Future Investment Initiative of the Public Investment Fund (KSA).

Hodes attended Sciences Po Paris, where he later was a lecturer. He earned his M.A. (Hons) from Paris II University in Defense, Geostrategy and Industrial Dynamics, and his M.P.A. from Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
