8:45 a.m. – 9:45 a.m.           Session I. Human-Machine Interaction
In this session, participants will take stock of the various real-world human-machine interactions. Participants will discuss the evolution of this relationship and begin to postulate on what the future of the human-machine relationship may look like.

9:45 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.           Session II. Science of Human Intimacy
This session presents cornerstone research on human psychology, cognition, computational neuroscience and biology of emotional intelligence and affect—particularly as it relates to concepts of intimacy. How is this understanding informing and shaping current AI design?

11:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.           Session III. Reframing Modes of Intimacy
Participants will explore the performative nature of emotion via artificial systems and its potential implications on our very understanding of what constitutes a “genuine” expression of emotion.

1:45 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.           Session IV. A Principled Future with Artificial Intimacy
This session will focus on the opportunities and limitations of artificial intimacy. In what ways and in what context might this type of human-machine interaction benefit society? In what ways might it be detrimental? What are the implications of this type of relationship on current cultural and behavioral norms as well as on ethics and the law?

In this session, participants will discuss whether the pursuit of an intimate human-machine relationship is appropriate. What safeguards should be in place to determine potential for harm?

10:20 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.           Session VI. Leadership
The final session will identify the necessary leadership skills to help navigate the future of human-machine intimacy.
