Kelly Born - Participant

Kelly Born is a Fellow in the President's Office, responsible for a portfolio of grants that fall under Special Projects, with a current emphasis on issues affecting the health of democracy in the U.S.

Before joining the Hewlett Foundation, Kelly worked as a strategy consultant with the Monitor Institute, focusing on the field of philanthropy. Prior to this, her consulting work focused on security and economic development challenges for domestic and foreign governments. In addition to her experience as a consultant, Kelly has worked with the World Bank’s microfinance group CGAP in Paris, Ashoka Social Entrepreneurs in Lima, Technoserve in East Africa, and both The Asia Foundation and Rubicon National Social Innovation in the Bay Area.

Kelly earned her B.A. in business with a minor in economics from Pepperdine University, and her M.A. in International Policy Studies from Stanford University.
