Haroon Ullah - Participant

Dr. Haroon K. Ullah is a senior member of Secretary Tillerson's policy planning staff at the US Department, with a special portfolio on digital strategy, countering violent extremism and transmedia engagement.  He teaches at Georgetown University and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.  He served as senior Harvard University Belfer Fellow, where he completed his MPA/ID at the Kennedy School of Government and won a Peabody Award for his TV animation Burka Avenger.  He has a PhD from the University of Michigan and was a William J. Fulbright Fellow, a Harvard University Presidential Scholar, and a Woodrow Wilson Public Service Fellow.  His previous award-winning books include Vying for Allah’s Vote (Georgetown University Press) and The Bargain from the Bazaar (Public Affairs Books).  He has a forthcoming book that focuses on technology and youth in the Muslim world called, Digital World War (Yale University Press, 2017).
