Kathy Stephens - Participant

Kathy Stephens is currently a Senior Associate at Georgetown University's Institute for the Study of Diplomacy and is a U.S. Foreign Service officer who has been Acting Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs (2012) and U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Korea (2008-2011). Her earlier Foreign Service assignments also included Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs (2005-2007) and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs (2003-2005). Overseas assignments have included U.S. Consul General in Belfast, Northern Ireland in the 1990s, and postings to U.S. diplomatic missions in China, former Yugoslavia, Portugal and Trinidad and Tobago. She was Director for European Affairs at the National Security Council during the Clinton Administration.
