Patty Wong - Participant

Patty Wong is currently City Librarian for the Santa Monica Public Library. She has a passion for managing change, equity and diversity, youth development, technology access, and collaboration with community.

Ms. Wong has worked at all levels within the profession and believes in leading from every position, the impact of the individual, the opportunity for teams, and eliminating barriers to access.

She is a returning member of the current American Library Association Executive Board and the first Asian American to hold that position. Wong is a Library Journal Mover and Shaker, ALA Equality Award recipient, Faculty of the Year, and Woman of the Year in her voting district.

While Yolo County Librarian, she was part of the team that authored the Yolo County Broadband Strategic Plan and helped to implement high speed connectivity and access throughout the county.

Wong is a strong advocate for broadband adoption in rural California. She is serving in her second term as a board member of CENIC representing public libraries and as adjunct faculty for the iSchool at San Jose State University with a specialization in grant writing.
