Marc Rotenberg - Participant

Marc Rotenberg is President and Executive Director of the Electronic Privacy Information Center (epic.org), a public interest research center in Washington, D.C. EPIC’s mission is to focus public attention on emerging privacy issues. EPIC pursues a wide range of program activities. In the past year, EPIC filed four amicus briefs with the US Supreme Court and launched a petition to establish an open and inclusive AI policy for the United States. Marc also teaches privacy, open government and GDPR (new) at Georgetown Law. He is coauthor with Prof. Anita Allen of Privacy Law and Society (West 2015) (privacylawandsociety.org), and editor of Privacy in the Modern Age: The Search for Solutions (The New Press 2016) and The Privacy Law Sourcebook (EPIC 2018). Marc helped launch the .ORG domain and promotes the Public Voice in decisions concerning the future of the Internet. He currently serves on the OECD Going Digital expert panel. Marc has received several awards including the Norbert Weiner Award for his commitment to the socially responsible use of computing technology. Marc is a tournament chess player and an offshore sailor.
