Patrick is the co-founder and Chief Growth Officer of Aura, a hyper-local mobile startup leveraging big data to recognize and categorize the world’s art.
During the past 25 years, Patrick has demonstrated a vision for seeing future IT trends. In 1998 he helped launch IDG’s LinuxWorld Expo. In 1999 to 2005, he ran SourceForge, a large and influential Open Source Development website. During his leadership, SourceForge grew to 25 million unique visitors a month and hosted over 100,000 Open Source projects.
In 2005, Patrick joined Splunk, the current leader in Big Data and Log Analysis. While at Splunk, Patrick held the positions of VP of Marketing and VP of Community Development.
After leaving Splunk, Patrick turned his focus on mobile. He became the CMO of Skout, a location-based mobile community/dating website, which raised 21 million dollars from Andreessen Horowitz. While at Skout he won the highly esteemed DemoGod award from the DEMO conference. Patrick started his own mobile company WhereApps, which launched a top app with over a million installs.
Most recently Patrick was the VP of Marketing of Risk I/O, an enterprise security SaaS company.
Patrick is a member of International Data Group’s (IDG) Board and a Trustee of the McGovern Foundation.
He holds a BS in Computer Science from the University of San Francisco.
