Jason Griffey, Founder/Principal of Evenly Distributed LLC and Fellow at the Berkman Center for Internet & Society of Harvard University, examines the question – What emerging technologies will be interfaced with public libraries? Griffey explains that due to the high rate of innovation, there are a number of technologies on the horizon that can be used in public libraries. In the next 3-5 years we may see artificial intelligence play an important role in the analysis and cataloguing of images and texts. This machine-learning, disruptive technology will combine with the widely connected Internet of Things to create seas of data that these artificial intelligences will be able to analyze in a new and different ways.
